I asked to review this book as I thought it would help me start off the new year with a new view of my diet. After so many years of trying to figure out what bother’s my stomach, trying this diet and that, this weird food and such; I’ve come to the conclusion I haven’t a clue what to eat to be healthy. Keto says this, but I don’t feel good like everyone else does eating that way, Paleo says eat this way, but nothing tastes good that I’ve tried, Atkin says eat lots of meat and fat, I get stomach pains. So, what do I eat?I was blown away by the information in this book that has you evaluate your relationship with food and your body. This author asks readers questions so that they can become aware of themselves and the food they eat. For example, she explains what mindful eating is, “…mindful eating is using all of our senses to be present in the entire eating experience, including choosing and preparing the food, while acknowledging our inner wisdom and body cues without judgment.”I know eating has become a chore not a pleasure. I’ve been eating things I don’t like in order to be healthy and lose weight. The author addresses these issues and so much more through a list of questions at the end of each chapter to get you thinking about how you view food, and become aware of what you tell yourself about it and your body.I was blown away by the insight and what I learned about myself. I got more than I bargained for in a good way. Once you become aware of what your attitude about food is (through each chapter and questions,) the author than gives you a step-by-step guide to change a habit or three. (Grin)“One diet doesn’t fit all” Just because one diet doesn’t work the way it should doesn’t mean I’m a bad person, or I don’t have self-control and I’m not crazy if I don’t like what I’m eating because I think it tastes like tree bark and no one else does. LOL! It just means I’m different and I need to find what works for me. No judgement on me and/or my body. This is a book you’ll not want to rush through. This is a book everyone should read.
